Grey Cup Festival 2024 – Day 1
On Wednesday, the 2024 Grey Cup Festival officially kicked-off at at the Payworks Entertainment Stage near Canada Place in Vancouver.
The organizers gave the public a sneak peek at the long weekend festivities from 4 to 6pm before the Kickoff Party at 6pm:
- CFL Experience: An immersive football zone featuring the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame display and the Grey Cup History Wall.
- Family Zone: Activities for all ages, including a mini zipline, inflatable obstacle course, mini field, climbing wall, arts and crafts, and a sensory room.
- Indigenous Marketplace: Indigenous art with 17 vendors, artists, and organizations.
- Global Pavilion: Diverse cultures are represented through unique vendors, crafts, and international flavors.
- Esports Experience: Esports games suitable for all ages, complete with daily tournaments.
Back the Payworks Entertainment Stage, BC Lions’ in-game host introduced the Grey Cup Trophy, representatives of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, the CFL Commisioner Randy Ambrosie, Vancouver’s Mayor Ken Sim, and many other guests, before Felix Cartal brought the heat up. Despite the rain, the audience fully enjoyed themselves.
However, due to weather conditions, the Grey Cup Drone Show has been rescheduled to Friday, November 15, at 9:30 p.m. The launch location and viewing points remain the same: Coal Harbour waterfront and seawall, spanning from the Vancouver Convention Centre West to the Westin Bayshore Hotel.
