Thuy at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver

Published

on

Earlier this year, Thuy, the Vietnamese-American sensation who’s been making waves in the Asian-American music community, brought her unique blend of soulful vocals, catchy beats, and heartfelt storytelling to a sold-out Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver for her Wings World Tour—and she did not disappoint.

But first, Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and producer ASTN opened the night and shared his introspective lyrics, charming the crowd.

After a brief musical interlude with DJ Cookbeats, it was time for Thuy. From the moment she stepped onto the stage for “Hair Down,” the room buzzed with excitement, and her radiant energy was contagious.

With her TikTok hit “Chances,” Thuy immediately connected with the audience, who sang along to every lyric. Her stage presence was magnetic, and her ability to seamlessly shift between pop, R&B, and indie vibes showcased her versatility as an artist. The band backing her only amplified the experience, filling the venue with a dynamic sound that kept the crowd moving.

The setlist was a perfect mix of fan favourites like “D8,” “In My Bag” and “Girls Like Me Don’t Cry.” Between songs, Thuy made time to interact with the crowd, cracking jokes, taking selfies, and even serenading a fan celebrating their birthday during “Universe.” Unlike her previous tour where she invited a couple on stage for this song, she asked for someone single to come up as this new tour was all about independence. As the audience lit up the room with their cellphone flashlights, the atmosphere turned intimate and heartwarming.

By the end of the night, it was clear that Thuy isn’t just a rising star—she’s a force to be reckoned with. Her authenticity, passion, and undeniable talent left a mark on everyone in the room. Vancouver, without a doubt, is eagerly awaiting her next visit.

Thuy will be on tour in North America until early March before hopping over to Europe. More info on her website.

GoodKid-Montreal-19

On May 19th, 2026, fans packed into MTELUS for the Montreal stop of Good Kid’s Can We Hang Out? tour. This is the second headline show the band has had in Montreal, the first being at Le Studio TD for their This Can’t Be The End tour.

First up was an opening performance by Glitter Party, which faced no difficulty in setting the tone for the night. A set filled with colourful lights, movement, and captivating vocals, matched well with Good Kid’s style, both in performance and music, leaving fans bouncing in anticipation for the main act.

After a charming reading of a couple pages from “The Hobbit” by lead vocalist Nick Frosst as the stage was being set up, the band began the set, opening with “Wall”. Immediately, there was no doubt that this would be a night to remember. The band came out in style, and the energy built up instantly through flashing lights, jumps and head-bangs.

Being from Toronto, the band earned laughs as they expressed they were happy to be back in
Canada after touring in the US, and had the crowd erupting in cheers as they congratulated the city on the Montreal Canadiens hockey win the night before.

The night continued with back-to-back hits, including “Cicada”, “Summer”, of course, “From The Start”, and finally closing the set with “Mimi’s Delivery Service”.

Good Kid sets an incredible standard of immersing a crowd in their world, from an elaborate stage design, beautiful merch that matches their aesthetic, to lots of crowd involvement including a wave of death and lots of crowd surfing! Although for many, Good Kid was not their first concert, it is very safe to say it was one of their favourites!

Approximately two years after their last visit to the country, PETRA returned to Argentina to celebrate their fifty years as a band with a show at Arena Sur in Buenos Aires on May 16th, as part of their 50th Anniversary World Tour.

The tour, which also serves as the presentation of their new album HOPE, has already visited countries such as Costa Rica and Finland, and will continue through Mexico, Switzerland, and the United States.

Considered one of the most important and influential bands in Christian rock history, PETRA has impacted multiple generations throughout its five decades of career. The band has released more than twenty albums, including studio records, live albums, and compilations, sold nearly ten million copies worldwide, and received four Grammy Awards and ten Dove Awards. They also became the first Christian band inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

During this new era, the group is also presenting HOPE, their twenty-first album and first studio record featuring new songs in more than twenty years. The release includes “Deliver Us,” the lead single inspired by Ephesians 6:12-13 and centered around a message of faith and spiritual strength.

The night at Arena Sur began with a performance by La PaezSystem as the opening act, kicking off an evening marked by rock and faith-based music.

After fifty years of career, PETRA continues to keep alive the legacy that turned them into one of the most recognized bands within Christian rock music.
