On August 17, American indie rock band Mt. Joy performed at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre in Vancouver, BC.

Mt. Joy is made up of Matt Quinn (lead vocals, guitar), Sam Cooper (guitar), Jackie Miclau (keyboard), Michael Byrnes (bass), and Sotiris Eliopoulos (drums). The band delivered an extensive setlist, pulling from their albums Mt. Joy (2018), Rearrange Us (2020), and Orange Blood (2022). They played two back-to-back sets, including a standout cover of the Pixies’ “Where Is My Mind?” Each member had a moment to shine, with Jackie Miclau’s keyboard work on “Dirty Love” being a highlight.

The stage design was simple yet impactful. Instead of focusing on the band, the large LED screen projected visuals that mirrored the mood of each song, creating a deeper connection with the music. The light show and lasers added another layer to the captivating performance.

The audience was fully engaged, singing along to nearly every song and savouring each moment of the night. As the final notes rang out, it was clear that Mt. Joy had delivered an unforgettable experience. If you wish to see one of their shows, Mt. Joy will be on tour in North America until the end of September. More info here.
