On May 8th, American musician Petey brough his Petey Tour Of The USA to the Vogue Theatre in Vancouver, BC, in support of his album USA.
Phony, aka Neil Berthier and his band, opened the night with their breezy indie rock-punk mix sound.
Around 9pm, Petey and his band appeared on stage under the cheers of the crowd. They began with the first song of his latest album “I’ll Wait”. He continued with “I Tried to Draw a Straight Line” and “Home Alone House”.
Petey is a rising star in the music industry. He emerged during the pandemic, and his meteoric rise to fame on TikTok and Instagram has solidified his place in the hearts of millions. From the moment he stepped on stage, the energy in the air was palpable. Fans, ranging from die-hard followers to those who stumbled upon his music through social media, sang along to every word of every song.
The authenticity of his lyrics shone through his captivating performance. Addressing the daily struggles of life, his words resonated deeply with the audience. And while his music may be classified as indie-pop, his live show was a whole different beast. It was a mix of indie rock, electropop, and alternative rock, showcasing Petey‘s versatility as a musician.
He ended his set with “Freedom To Fuck Off”, and “Don’t Tell The Boys”, a beautiful song about friendship. The emotion in the air was palpable as the crowd screamed along to every word. If you ever have the chance to see him live, don’t hesitate.
