On May 24, Colombian reggaeton singer Ryan Castro performed at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, BC.
DJ Tony Escobar and his dancers started the night by warming up the crowd and got everyone dancing on the floor.
In the past, Castro has teamed up with some of the biggest stars in música urbana. Colombian singer Feid joined him on the 2021 track “Monastery,” Karol G had him open her 2021 Bichota Reloaded Tour in Medellín, J Balvin brought him onstage at the 2022 MTV VMAs, and Maluma featured him on a track from his 2023 album Don Juan. With such star power backing him, Castro has come a long way from the courageous teenager who sang in the streets for money.
Shortly after 9pm, Ryan Castro, Dubbed “El Cantante del Ghetto” (The Singer from the Ghetto), appeared under the screams of the audience. He delivered an impressive performance, with renditions of his popular tracks including “Quema”, “Malory”, “Corazon Roto”, and “Wasa Wasa”. His presence on stage and the crowd reactions were a clear indication of his strong fanbase even outside of Colombia.
