Apocalyptica at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver

On February 24, Finnish metla band Apocalyptica brought their Apocalyptica Plays Metallica Vol. 2 Tour to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver, and it was an unforgettable night of symphonic metal mastery.
Kicking things off was the insanely talented Nita Strauss, who wasted no time getting the crowd pumped. She was introduced by her good friend, American wrestler Mick Foley. Best known for her work with Alice Cooper, Nita’s solo set was a masterclass in shredding. It’s always a treat to see her in her element, and she absolutely owned the stage with her high-energy performance and effortless guitar wizardry.
Then came the main event—Apocalyptica. From the moment the first notes of “Ride the Lightning” rang out, the energy in the theatre was electric. It’s incredible how they manage to bring Metallica’s raw power to life using just cellos and drums. Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, and Perttu Kivilaakso played with unmatched intensity, headbanging and moving across the stage like true rockstars, while drummer Mikko Kaakkuriniemi kept the pulse pounding.
The setlist was a dream for Metallica fans, featuring classics like “Creeping Death,” “Master of Puppets,” and a hauntingly beautiful rendition of “Nothing Else Matters.” The night ended with “Seek & Destroy” and an encore of “One.”
Apocalyptica will be on tour in North America until March 8 in Houston, TX. More info on tickets and tour dates here.
