Canada Together with Dear Rouge and Hotel Mira in Vancouver

Vancouver alt-rock standouts Dear Rouge and Hotel Mira lit up the Downtown Van Stage this Canada Day as part of the Canada Together celebrations at Canada Place.

Hosted by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, the free event took place on July 1 and marked the fourth annual Canada Together gathering, now one of the largest Canada Day events outside of Ottawa. It was also the 39th year of festivities at Vancouver’s iconic waterfront venue.

Dear Rouge, fresh off a string of tour dates, closed out the event with a powerful headlining set. They even invited Alex Wells, a hoop dancer from the Lil’wat Nation to perform with them on stage. Just before Dear Rouge, Hotel Mira brought their signature swagger to the stage (and the barricade!), drawing a strong local crowd. They dedicated their set to the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.

This year’s programming was created in collaboration with the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, and followed the theme “Weaving together the fabric of a nation.” The day emphasized gathering, sharing, and honouring the country’s diversity.

Festivities ran from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with activities stretching across five city blocks, including spaces at Canada Place, Jack Poole Plaza, and surrounding streets. The event featured live performances, cultural exhibitions, a variety of family-friendly activities, and a moving citizenship ceremony that welcomed 40 new Canadians.

With sunshine, strong turnout, and standout local talent, the 2025 edition of Canada Together offered Vancouver a vibrant and heartfelt way to mark the day.
