Mt. Joy at Deer Lake Park in Burnaby

Published

on

On August 19, Mt. Joy brought their 2025 headlining tour to Deer Lake Park in Burnaby, filling the hillside with indie folk-rock jams and good vibes. The Philadelphia-born five-piece, touring in support of their latest record Hope We Have Fun, delivered a set that balanced fresh tracks with fan favourites.

The band split their performance into two sets, giving fans plenty of time to soak in the mix of new material and older tracks. They opened with “Pink Lady” before moving through early standouts like “Jenny Jenkins” and “I’m Your Wreck.” The crowd responded in kind, singing and swaying as the band shifted between slow-burn ballads and extended jams. Jackie Miclau’s keys added a psychedelic shimmer throughout, especially on “Ruins” and “Dirty Love,” while Matt Quinn’s vocals carried both tenderness and grit.

Set two leaned into their 2022 album Orange Blood and this year’s Hope We Have Fun. Songs like “Julia” and “Lucy” drew some of the biggest reactions of the night, with Quinn pausing to speak about friendship and community before “Lucy,” earning loud cheers. A playful snippet of Buddy Holly’s “Not Fade Away” slipped into “Mt. Joy,” and by the time “Silver Lining” closed the main set, the audience was in full voice.

For the encore, the band pulled a surprise with Wheatus’s “Teenage Dirtbag,” sparking a sing-along, before ending with the fan-favourite “Astrovan.” Mt. Joy has managed to turn Deer Lake Park into one big campfire jam.

Goose Brings their ‘Summer Tour’ to the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver

Goose

Goose brought their 2026 Summer Tour to Vancouver on Tuesday night, turning the Commodore Ballroom into a sweaty, late-night dance party that stretched well past 11 p.m.

The Connecticut-based quartet — Rick Mitarotonda, Peter Anspach, Trevor Weekz and drummer Cotter Ellis — has built a reputation for letting songs breathe onstage, and Vancouver got the full treatment. The band played two sets and an encore, giving the crowd plenty of room to settle into the grooves and watch the songs take unexpected turns.

The first set opened with “Yeti” before moving through “All I Need,” “Turbulence & The Night Rays” and “Time to Flee.” “Everything Must Go” kept things moving before “Hungersite” closed the set with one of the night’s bigger stretches of improvisation.

After a break, Goose returned and launched into “Electric Avenue,” a crowd-pleasing choice that had the Commodore singing along.

There was little interest in rushing through the evening. Goose gave each section space, moving from tight grooves to loose instrumental passages without making the show feel like a collection of extended solos.

For a band coming off a European run and heading into some of its biggest U.S. shows, Vancouver felt like another strong stop on the way. The Commodore may be a much smaller room than Madison Square Garden or SPAC, but Goose seemed perfectly happy to stretch out inside it.

Chance The Rapper Brings ‘Coloring Book 10 Year Anniversary Tour’ to Montreal at MTelus

Chance The Rapper-Montreal-6

After 10 years since its release, Chance the Rapper is back on tour to celebrate his album Coloring Book! With Montreal being the 4th stop on the tour, many fans packed into Montreal’s MTELUS on August 15th, 2026, with no idea of what to expect.

First, the audience was thrilled by an energetic and upbeat performance by opener La Reezy. His quick lyrics and heavy instrumentals had no trouble in setting the tone for the night, specifically during “Gold Chains,” and with stellar crowd engagement during “We Live.”

Then, Chance the Rapper took the stage! With Coloring Book being such a staple in 2016, especially in the rap community, it is a daunting task to bring that nostalgic energy back on stage. But, with a 24-song setlist, Chance does just that. Unsurprisingly, half the setlist features songs from Coloring Book, with the set opening with “All We Got,” and closing with “Same Drugs,” featuring a confetti-filled performance of “No Problem” in the middle. However, Chance doesn’t shy away from performing a few hits from his other albums as well, such as “Link Me In The Future” from STAR LINE, and some older work in Acid Rap.

Overall, there is something powerful about hearing these songs a decade later. The themes stay the same, yet as both the artist and audience grow, there’s new meanings and emotions to be found in the lyrics. The anniversary show felt like a reunion for those who grew up with Coloring Book, and that’s what ultimately makes this tour a success.
