OK Go at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver

Published

What a night in Vancouver! The Commodore Ballroom transformed into a kaleidoscope of sound and energy on June 21st, thanks to the sweet-meets-chaotic double bill of LA Exes and OK Go for the last date of their And The Adjacent Possible tour.

The LA Exes opened the show with dreamy harmonies and 60s-inspired charm, warming up the crowd with shimmering guitar tones and plenty of heart. Their easygoing presence and catchy melodies made it feel like the start of summer.

Then OK Go exploded onto the stage in a riot of colour, confetti (so much confetti!), and charisma. With synchronized visuals, playful theatrics, and lead singer Damian Kulash weaving through the crowd, it was equal parts rock show and interactive art experiment. Somewhere between the tender acoustic moments and the full-blown technicolour chaos, they reminded us that music can be wildly fun and deeply heartfelt at the same time.

Whether you came for the music, the spectacle, or the nostalgia, this was one of those shows that leaves you feeling lighter.

Avenoir Brings ‘Mirage Tour’ to the Hollywood Theatre in Vancouver

Avenoir in Vancouver

Rising Canadian R&B artist Avenoir brought his Mirage Tour – Act One to Vancouver on March 12, playing an intimate show at the Hollywood Theatre. The evening opened with a set from Alberta-born singer-songwriter Jonah David, who warmed up the crowd with his 2-piece band before the headliner took the stage. David‘s performance was clearly a hit as fans asked for autograph as soon as his set ended.

Born in South Africa and raised in Edmonton, Avenoir has built serious momentum over the past year. His debut EP NOIRE earned a 2025 Juno nomination, and his music has racked up hundreds of millions of streams. The Vancouver stop was part of a short run of theatre shows meant to give fans a closer look at the fast-rising artist before a bigger year ahead.

The performance leaned into atmosphere. Avenoir kept movement minimal, often standing alone at center stage as his songs unfolded over sleek production, including great saxophone moments. His acoustics songs helped strengthen his connection with the audience. The production blended futuristic R&B with booming 808s and dramatic arrangements that gave several tracks a cinematic punch. His voice has a smoky tone that cuts through the heavy beats.

The show felt like a young artist still settling into the stage. The music is already there, and the confidence will likely follow.

JUNNY in Vancouver

Korean-Canadian R&B artist JUNNY brought warmth to a cold Vancouver night on March 4, turning the Vogue Theatre into a packed, swaying sea of JUNNIVERSE for his null Tour. Promoted by MRG Live, the show supported his second full-length album, null, and marked the second-to-last stop on his North American run before wrapping in Calgary.

DAUL opened the show with a tight, high-energy set that worked well with the crowd. Once the room was warmed up, JUNNY stepped out under the screams of the fans. Bathed in pulsing lights, he moved with easy confidence, pairing smooth vocals with subtle body rolls that sent the crowd into a frenzy.

He thanked fans several times for coming to his show, and leaned into his charm, shouting out the “sexy ladies and sexy fellas” in the crowd.

On a cold March night in Vancouver, JUNNY delivered heart and heat, exactly what his fans came for. Check out our favourite photos of the night below!
