On May 8th, American musician Petey brough his Petey Tour Of The USA to the Vogue Theatre in Vancouver, BC, in support of his album USA.
Phony, aka Neil Berthier and his band, opened the night with their breezy indie rock-punk mix sound.
Around 9pm, Petey and his band appeared on stage under the cheers of the crowd. They began with the first song of his latest album “I’ll Wait”. He continued with “I Tried to Draw a Straight Line” and “Home Alone House”.
Petey is a rising star in the music industry. He emerged during the pandemic, and his meteoric rise to fame on TikTok and Instagram has solidified his place in the hearts of millions. From the moment he stepped on stage, the energy in the air was palpable. Fans, ranging from die-hard followers to those who stumbled upon his music through social media, sang along to every word of every song.
The authenticity of his lyrics shone through his captivating performance. Addressing the daily struggles of life, his words resonated deeply with the audience. And while his music may be classified as indie-pop, his live show was a whole different beast. It was a mix of indie rock, electropop, and alternative rock, showcasing Petey‘s versatility as a musician.
He ended his set with “Freedom To Fuck Off”, and “Don’t Tell The Boys”, a beautiful song about friendship. The emotion in the air was palpable as the crowd screamed along to every word. If you ever have the chance to see him live, don’t hesitate.

Fit For A King Brings ‘Lonely God’ Tour to Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver
Texas metalcore veterans Fit For A King turned the Commodore Ballroom into absolute chaos on May 8, bringing their Lonely God tour through Vancouver with support from Invent Animate, TEN56, and Acres. From the first breakdown of the night to the final crowdsurfer during “Witness The End,” the packed ballroom barely had a second to breathe.
Acres kicked things off. The UK group managed to pull the crowd in almost immediately. Tracks from their latest album The Host landed well, especially during the massive singalong sections that had even casual listeners joining in. By the end of their set, the first wave of crowdsurfers was already moving toward the barricade.
TEN56 followed with one of the heaviest sets of the night. The Paris band delivered punishing breakdowns and thick bass lines that rattled the Commodore floor. The pit only grew more chaotic with every song.
Invent Animate brought a completely different energy, leaning into atmosphere, but without sacrificing heaviness. The band sounded incredibly tight live, creating huge walls of sound that filled every corner of the room.
Then came Fit For A King. Opening with “Begin The Sacrifice,” the Texas band wasted no time sending the crowd into chaos. Frontman Ryan Kirby commanded the stage with nonstop energy, while bassist Ryan O’Leary drew huge reactions with his wild stage presence. Songs like “No Tomorrow,” “Breaking The Mirror,” and “When Everything Means Nothing” triggered deafening singalongs, while “God of Fire” and “Backbreaker” kept the pit spinning.
By the time Fit For A King closed with “Witness The End,” the Commodore looked exhausted but completely satisfied. Heavy metal music in Vancouver is alive and well.

Joost Klein Brings World Tour With Chaos and Heart in Vancouver
Fresh off two sets at Coachella 2026 — a historic milestone as the first Dutch-language artist to ever grace that stage — Joost Klein brought his world tour to Vancouver’s Harbour Event & Convention Centre on Monday night. If the Southern California desert crowds were a warm-up, Vancouver got the real thing.
From the opening notes of Ome Robert to a euphoric, arms-in-the-air Europapa, Klein delivered nearly 30 songs worth of controlled chaos. The Frisian artist operates in a genuinely singular space, somewhere between Dutch hardcore, punk fury, and emotionally devastating party music. And the packed room at Harbour centre felt every single frequency. Sweat was basically precipitation by the midpoint of the set.
The mosh pits were, predictably, unhinged. Klein summons that energy. Circle pits tore open during Gabberland and BOOM BOOM!!!!!, and the crowd obliged every invitation. Yet between the mayhem, there were quieter moments. A gorgeous Zonder Jou hushed the room before Klein rebuilt the roof again.
Highlights were abundant: a wild TRAFIK! (his take on Käärijä’s banger), and an abridged Friesenjung that turned into a full remix by the encore.
This is a guy who started as a teenage Dutch YouTuber, got disqualified from Eurovision 2024 for comments that some judged controversial, and somehow ended up headlining a world tour on five continents. Nobody saw it coming, Klein included. The rest of the world better be ready for this tour.
