On March 10th, British rock band The Last Dinner Party brought their tour to a sold-out Vogue Theatre in Vancouver, BC to support their debut album Prelude to Ecstasy.

American indie-rock artist Miss Grit opened the night with a conceptual set casting various light patterns on an otherwise dark stage. With most of her face and body obscured, it brought her beautiful vocals to the forefront.

Around 9pm, the band, consisting of Abigail Morris (vocals), Emily Roberts (lead guitar), Lizzie Mayland (rhythm guitar), Georgia Davies (bass) and Aurora Nishevci (keyboards), appeared on stage amidst the dramatic intro of “Prelude to Ecstasy.” The band launched into high gear with “Burn Alive” and “Caesar on a TV Screen.” Led by Morris, all members made an extra effort with their outfits (re-used from their press photoshoots) and their stage presence.

For “Portrait Of A Dead Girl”, Morris requested the help of the audience for background vocals creating a palpable connection with the fans and elevating everyone’s experience.

The Last Dinner Party saved the best for last as they ended their 13-song set with their worldwide hit “Nothing Matters.” As their first headlining tour, the band delivered an unforgettable performance and solidify their status as one-to-watch.

The Last Dinner Party will end the North American leg of their tour on April 16th in San Francisco but will come back for a few more dates in the summer. More info on the band’s website.
