The Abbotsford Canucks are Calder Cup champions. With a 3–2 win in Game 6 over the Charlotte Checkers, they’ve secured the AHL title for the first time, and become the first Vancouver Canucks affiliate to win it all.

“On behalf of the Aquilini family, I’d like to congratulate the Abbotsford Canucks, Jim Rutherford, Patrik Allvin, General Manager Ryan Johnson, Head Coach Manny Malhotra, the staff, and the players, on their Calder Cup Championship,” said Francesco Aquilini, Chairman & Governor, NHL.

Abbotsford’s playoff run was fueled by Linus Karlsson (14 goals, 26 points), Arshdeep Bains (24 points), and a dominant performance in net from Artūrs Šilovs, who went 16–7 with a 2.01 GAA, .931 save percentage, and five shutouts.

“This was such an incredible playoff run, and we are so impressed by the job the players, coaches, Manny and RJ did in winning this title,” said Jim Rutherford, President of Hockey Operations. “I would also like to thank the great fans in Abbotsford. You were a real difference maker for our team.”

The Canucks knocked off the Tucson Roadrunners, Coachella Valley Firebirds, Colorado Eagles, and Texas Stars to reach the Finals, going 10–3 at home along the way. Key moments included Danila Klimovich scoring two OT winners, and Šilovs recording four shutouts across three different rounds.

Game 6 of the Finals was sealed with goals from Sammy Blais, Klimovich, and Karlsson, plus 28 saves from Šilovs.

“This Championship has captivated the hockey community and Canucks fans everywhere,” said Michael Doyle, President of Business Operations. “Your passion helped drive them to the ultimate prize.”

Abbotsford’s title win caps a season of firsts and gives their fans a reason to celebrate.
