Live Review – The Trilogy Tour’s Latin Fiesta Ignites Vancouver with Enrique Iglesias, Ricky Martin & Pitbull
On a chilly December night in Vancouver, the heat soared at Rogers Arena as Latin crossover titans Ricky Martin, Enrique Iglesias, and Pitbull took the stage for the first night of their ‘Trilogy Tour’. With anticipation buzzing in the air, the crowd, ranging from teenagers to seasoned fans, was in for a night of dancing and sing-along.
Enrique Iglesias Brings the Crowd Up
Kicking off the spectacle was Enrique Iglesias, whose subdued yet powerful set resonated with the audience. Iglesias, known as the “King of Latin Pop,” moved through hits like “Bailamos”, “I Like It” and “Hero” with an unmatched energy that transcended backup dancers, choreography, and outfit changes. Videos of Iglesias humping the stage had circulated on TikTok, but the Vancouver stop experienced a bit of air thrusting. The intimate duets with his backup singer added a touch of sensuality, and brought warmth and connection to the night.
Ricky Martin Sets the Stage Ablaze
Boricua icon Ricky Martin continued the electrifying evening, taking the audience on a journey through hits like “Maria”, “She Bangs”, and the soul-stirring “Vuelve.” Martin‘s stage presence and effortless command of the crowd harked back to the Latin Explosion of the late ’90s and early 2000s. His performance of “Livin’ la Vida Loca” proved timeless, hitting just as hard as it did in the summer of ’99.
Pitbull Turns Up the Heat
Closing out the night, the energy surged to new heights with Pitbull, aka Mr. Worldwide, who turned Rogers Arena into a visual and sonic freakout. Pitbull‘s set, including hits like “Timber”, “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)”, and “Hotel Room Service”, had the crowd chanting “dale” a staggering amount of times. Pitbull‘s charisma and motivational messages, combined with the enthusiastic crowd dressed as mini Pitbulls, created an atmosphere that felt like a mix of a concert and a positivity conference.
The Dizzying Force of the Trilogy Tour
’The Trilogy Tour’, beyond a mere nostalgia trip, proved to be a celebration of three Latin icons committed to keeping the hips moving and the throats hoarse from screaming. From Ricky Martin‘s primal exuberance to Pitbull‘s charismatic party anthem and Enrique Iglesias‘ timeless ballads, the tour covered decades of music and showcased the enduring power of these artists. As confetti filled the air and the crowd erupted in cheers, it was evident that the Trilogy Tour was a force to be reckoned with, leaving Vancouver eagerly anticipating the second night at Rogers Arena.
