July Talk Bring ‘Touch X Tour’ to the Bronson Music Theatre in Ottawa

Published

on

On March 25, July Talk brought their Touch X Tour: Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Touch to a sold-out Bronson Music Theatre in Ottawa.

The night opened with a steady, rootsy set from Julianna Riolino. Her warm vocals and understated delivery gave the room time to settle in, easing the audience into what would soon become a far more volatile atmosphere.

When July Talk hit the stage, the tone shifted instantly. The band leaned into the 10-year legacy of Touch, performing the album front to back. It gave the set a sense of structure, but nothing about the performance felt too rigid, especially in the second half of the show. From the jump, the push-and-pull chemistry between Leah Fay and Peter Dreimanis took over, with her theatrical movements and piercing vocals colliding with his gravelly intensity.

One of the most striking elements of the night was Fay’s stage presence while visibly pregnant. It didn’t slow her down in the slightest. She moved across the stage with a mix of control and abandon, at times swaying with a softer touch, then snapping right back into the band’s usual feral energy. The contrast added a new layer to the performance without ever pulling focus from the music itself.

Tracks like “Beck + Call” and “Picturing Love” hit with the same urgency they had a decade ago, while “Push + Pull” turned the floor into a sea of movement. By the time they reached “Lola + Joseph,” the crowd was fully locked in, feeding off every gesture between the two frontpeople.

Midway through, the band slipped in newer material, including songs from Love Isn’t Dead, a previously unreleased companion record to Touch. Rather than feeling like leftovers, these tracks blended seamlessly into the set and proved they still hold up.

After closing the album portion with “Touch,” the band loosened up. “Summer Dress” sparked a loud singalong, and deeper cuts added variety without losing momentum. The encore brought things home with a punch, ending on “The Garden,” which left the room buzzing.

This Anniversary Tour showed that July Talk still thrives in the chaos they create, and the crowd is more than happy to get swept up in it.

CalumScott-LosAngeles-2026-6

Calum Scott took the Wiltern stage in Los Angeles on April 3rd, 2026, for his Avenoir Tour.

Calum Scott is a British singer-songwriter who first gained attention on Britain’s Got Talent in 2015, where his emotional cover of “Dancing On My Own” by Robyn became a global hit. Known for his powerful vocals and deeply personal songwriting, Scott blends pop with raw, heartfelt storytelling. His music often explores themes of love, identity, and self-acceptance, earning him a dedicated global fanbase and chart success with songs like “You Are The Reason.”

The theatre filled, and by 9 o’clock everyone was ready to dance, laugh, and cry together. The sense of community was in the air as many of the fans related to the vulnerability in Scott‘s music.

He performed a variety of songs from his discography: some new songs and his hits. My favorite moment was his stripped-back set, when he sang “No Matter What,” a song about him coming to terms with who he was. Tears began to fall throughout the crowd. What a meaningful night for music in Los Angeles.

Syd Taylor at The Belasco in Los Angeles

Published

SydTaylor-LosAngeles-25

On Tuesday, March 31st, The Belasco in Downtown LA was packed with fans from both near and far. Syd Taylor, an indie-rock artist from Michigan, supported Goldie Boutilier on her North American tour, The King of Possibilities. From February 24th to April 4th, Syd opened for Boutilier at sixteen sold-out shows.

As Syd’s bandmates stepped onto the stage, the crowd erupted with cheers and chants of “Syd, Syd, Syd!” Soon after, Syd Taylor confidently walked across the stage in her stylish outfit, smiling brightly. She kicked off her set with songs from her new album, “After the Fact,” starting with “Love of Your Life,” then “Time to Go,” and “Leave Me Out of It.”
After parting ways with Stereo Jane, a band heavily inspired by ’90s rock—formed by Syd and her twin sister Emilia, known as Mia—Syd felt a strong desire to find her own artistic and personal identity.

Inspired by bands like Fleetwood Mac and The Beatles, Syd finally broke free from external expectations—no longer told which genre to pursue, whom to share her demo with, or how to present herself on stage. As her own producer, songwriter, and guitarist, she spent three months drawing inspiration from her Los Angeles apartment and charting her own creative path. This ultimately led to her releasing her debut album “After the Fact.”

Syd once said that, during the process of making this album, she felt this was “the first time that [she had] been able to sit down and create something for [herself].” Syd had previously felt like she was prioritizing others and wanted to get as far away from that mindset as possible.

To create an album as raw and reflective as “After the Fact,” Syd needed to discover her artistic style. This led her to find confidence in this new era of her career.

Head to Syd‘s website for more information on upcoming tour dates.
