On the evening of April 27th, the atmosphere at the PNE Forum was charged with anticipation as the crowd awaited the arrival of Amon Amarth. Before the main event, attendees were treated to powerful performances by Frozen Soul, Obituary, and Cannibal Corpse, setting the stage for an unforgettable night of metal mayhem.
As the anticipation reached its peak, Amon Amarth made a grand entrance behind a curtain, accompanied by the iconic sounds of Iron Maiden‘s “Run to the Hills.” The crowd erupted as the song reached its climax, and as soon as it ended, the curtain dropped, revealing the band ready to unleash their fury. With the opening chords of “The Pursuit of Vikings,” the atmosphere ignited, and the audience was swept up in a whirlwind of energy and passion. Each subsequent song in their thunderous setlist, from “Shield Wall” to “Put Your Back Into the Oar” and “Guardians of Asgaard,” served as a rallying cry, fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose among all in attendance.
Amon Amarth‘s stage presence was nothing short of extraordinary, with elaborate set designs featuring towering statues, flag bearers, and a colossal Viking helmet that commanded attention. Jacob Collier Brings It Back to the Room at Vancouver’s Orpheum Theatre
Jacob Collier traded spectacle for stillness on April 10 at Orpheum Theatre, and the result felt quietly powerful.
The Grammy-winning multi-instrumentalist has built a reputation on big, layered productions and dense harmonic worlds. This tour, The Light For Days Tour: A Series Of Solo Performances In Intimate Spaces, flips that idea. Alone onstage with a five-string guitar, piano, and his signature harmonizer, Collier leaned into restraint.
The set drew heavily from his latest album The Light For Days, a project written in just four days using a single instrument. That limitation carried into the live show. Songs felt more focused, more direct. There was still plenty of harmonic colour, but it never tipped into excess. Instead, it landed with warmth.
Collier’s real instrument, though, might be the crowd. True to form, he conducted the audience like a choir, splitting the room into harmonies that echoed through the Orpheum’s ornate interior. It turned a seated theatre into something communal, almost playful.
Opener Marie Dresselhuis set the tone early with a soft, intimate set that matched the evening’s mood, under the strong cheers of the crowd.
For longtime fans who came up on the sprawling Djesse era, this show was more like a reset. For everyone else, it was a reminder that Collier’s core strength is connection.

Calum Scott Brings His ‘Avenoir Tour’ to the Wiltern in Los Angeles
Calum Scott took the Wiltern stage in Los Angeles on April 3rd, 2026, for his Avenoir Tour.
Calum Scott is a British singer-songwriter who first gained attention on Britain’s Got Talent in 2015, where his emotional cover of “Dancing On My Own” by Robyn became a global hit. Known for his powerful vocals and deeply personal songwriting, Scott blends pop with raw, heartfelt storytelling. His music often explores themes of love, identity, and self-acceptance, earning him a dedicated global fanbase and chart success with songs like “You Are The Reason.”
The theatre filled, and by 9 o’clock everyone was ready to dance, laugh, and cry together. The sense of community was in the air as many of the fans related to the vulnerability in Scott‘s music.
He performed a variety of songs from his discography: some new songs and his hits. My favorite moment was his stripped-back set, when he sang “No Matter What,” a song about him coming to terms with who he was. Tears began to fall throughout the crowd. What a meaningful night for music in Los Angeles.
