Mae Martin at the Vogue Theatre in Vancouver

Mae Martin brought their I’m A TV tour to the Vogue Theatre on June 13, offering Vancouver a new side of their artistry: less punchline, more vulnerability, but still unmistakably Mae. Known for stand-up and screenwriting, Martin stepped into their singer-songwriter era with the kind of rawness that feels both brave and soft-spoken.

Backed by a tight 2-piece band (Wes Marksell and Jason Couse from The Darcys) and bathed in moody lighting, Martin played through much of their debut album, I’m A TV, which dropped last February. The songs were tender and reflective, blending indie rock with diary-like honesty. The tracks invited the audience into Martin’s inner world of memory, heartbreak, and the tangled mess of identity.

Their stage banter carried that familiar, awkward, and quick-witted charm. Jokes landed between songs, but there was a noticeable shift from comic to confessional. Martin seemed a little anxious early on, but settled in by the second half of the set. By the end of their set, the nerves had melted.

This wasn’t just a comedian trying something new. It was an artist cracking open, letting people in a little deeper. And while Mae Martin might still be getting used to being a musician onstage, their honesty make it clear they’re in the right place.

Vancouver singer-songwriter Ashleigh Ball opened the night, and shared funny and relatable tracks from her EPs and first album Before All The Magic’s Gone.

During their Argentina Tour 2026, the band IMBERMIND made their debut in the country. The tour began in Mar del Plata and continued this weekend with their own show at the HiFi room of the ArtLab cultural space in Buenos Aires.

The group presented their debut album Never Ending, which features 11 songs and blends electronic music, pop, and cinematic elements. Edu, Luis, Nico, and Álvaro opened the show with “Understand” and continued with several tracks from the album, including “Never Ending,” “Godlike Man,” “Imbernation,” and “It Feels.”

The HiFi room at ArtLab allowed the audience to stand just a few steps away from the band, making their presence felt from the very first song. The venue’s high-fidelity sound system ensured that each track could be heard with all the nuances of the record, and the crowd followed every song through to the end.

To close out their time in Argentina, IMBERMIND will perform this Saturday, March 14, on the Perry’s Stage at Lollapalooza Argentina 2026, where they will wrap up their Argentina Tour 2026.

Avenoir Brings ‘Mirage Tour’ to the Hollywood Theatre in Vancouver

Avenoir in Vancouver

Rising Canadian R&B artist Avenoir brought his Mirage Tour – Act One to Vancouver on March 12, playing an intimate show at the Hollywood Theatre. The evening opened with a set from Alberta-born singer-songwriter Jonah David, who warmed up the crowd with his 2-piece band before the headliner took the stage. David‘s performance was clearly a hit as fans asked for autograph as soon as his set ended.

Born in South Africa and raised in Edmonton, Avenoir has built serious momentum over the past year. His debut EP NOIRE earned a 2025 Juno nomination, and his music has racked up hundreds of millions of streams. The Vancouver stop was part of a short run of theatre shows meant to give fans a closer look at the fast-rising artist before a bigger year ahead.

The performance leaned into atmosphere. Avenoir kept movement minimal, often standing alone at center stage as his songs unfolded over sleek production, including great saxophone moments. His acoustics songs helped strengthen his connection with the audience. The production blended futuristic R&B with booming 808s and dramatic arrangements that gave several tracks a cinematic punch. His voice has a smoky tone that cuts through the heavy beats.

The show felt like a young artist still settling into the stage. The music is already there, and the confidence will likely follow.
