Orla Gartland Brings Chaos and Big Feels to Vancouver

Published

Orla Gartland turned the Commodore Ballroom into a full-on emotional rollercoaster on Thursday night on the second-to-last date of The Hero Tour. The Dublin-born singer-songwriter had the Vancouver crowd laughing and dancing during what could be described as a delightful chaotic concert therapy session.

Kicking things off was FIGHTMASTER, aka “The Coolest Person Alive.” Their opening set was tender and witty. It was the kind of vibe that made you want to call your ex and start a band. We last caught as a guest on Shannon Beveridge’s Exes and O’s Hard Launch Tour so it was nice to see them in another element.

Then came Orla, bouncing on stage with her signature red hair, giant guitar energy, and zero chill in the best way possible. She tore through fan faves like “Zombie!” and “More Like You,” but also made room for quieter moments like “Mine.” Special shoutout to her cover of Chappell Roan’s “Red Wine Supernova”, this song is always a hit with the crowd. Between songs, she bantered like someone who’s had just enough sugar and not enough sleep.

By the end of the night, we were all sweaty, smiling, and emotionally wrecked in the best way possible.
