KATSEYE’S Debut EP, SIS (Soft Is Strong), Set For August 16 Release

KATSEYE, the first-ever global girl group formed using KPOP artist development methodologies, will release its debut EP, SIS (Soft Is Strong), on August 16 via HYBE x Geffen Records. Pre-save / pre-order HERE.
SIS (Soft Is Strong), the EP’s title, reflects one of KATSEYE’s core beliefs – Soft Is Strong – and also nods to the sisterhood they’ve forged, despite coming from immensely different cultures. The six members of KATSEYE are: DANIELA (Atlanta, GA USA); LARA (Los Angeles, CA USA); MANON (Zurich, Switzerland); MEGAN (Honolulu, HI USA); SOPHIA (Manila, Philippines); and YOONCHAE (Seoul, South Korea).
KATSEYE makes a bold entrance with “Debut,” their first single. The girls trade lines seamlessly, revealing their vocal prowess and individual personalities, on the vibrant, rhythmic pop anthem. The song was written by OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder along with Omer Fedi, Tyler Spry, and Grant Boutin. Tedder, Spry, and Boutin also produced the track. Listen HERE.
In the colorful, exuberant official video for “Debut,” which premiered today, KATSEYE stops traffic and defies gravity with a dynamic, choreographed performance of the song. Watch HERE. Shot in Medellin, Colombia, the video was directed by French-born, Lisbon and Los Angeles-based filmmaker Gregory Ohrel. Known for his global perspective, Ohrel helmed the videos for Residente’s “This Is Not America” Ft. Ibeyi, which won the 2022 Grand Prix for Entertainment Lions for Music award at Cannes Lion and a Latin GRAMMY® award, and Jain’s “Makeba,” named Music Video of the Year at the Victoires de la Musique and nominated for a GRAMMY.
The Netflix docuseries “Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE,” which follows the year-long process of creating this one-of-a-kind girl group, will premiere this summer. With unprecedented access, the series will be a compelling portrayal of the journey to global stardom, including insight into the unique training and development program from HYBE and Geffen Records. The series was directed by Nadia Hallgren (Becoming) and produced by HYBE, Interscope Films and Boardwalk Pictures.
KATSEYE will perform during the pre-show at KCON LA 2024 – an annual KPOP fan and artist festival that will take place July 26-28 at Crypto.Com Arena in Los Angeles. Vogue declared, “KATSEYE’s members are out to change the look and sound of modern pop as we know it.” PEOPLE observed, “Feminine, powerful and unique is the only way to describe the hot new girl group that is KATSEYE.”
With “Debut,” their journey has just begun. Look for KATSEYE’s second single to drop in July.
