Franz Ferdinand at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver

Franz Ferdinand rolled into Vancouver on Tuesday night, proving once again that their indie rock charm hasn’t faded one bit. Playing to a packed Commodore Ballroom for the first of two nights, the Glaswegian band delivered a tight, high-energy set that had the crowd dancing from start to finish.
Opening the night was alternative rock band from Los Angeles, The Telescreens, who did a incredible job warming up the room. Definitely one of my favourite openers this year. They had such great energy.
Shortly after 9pm, Alex Kapranos and crew hit the stage and the energy skyrocketed. Dressed in their signature sharp style, they wasted no time launching into a mix of old favourites and tracks from their latest album, The Human Fear, released earlier this year.
The new songs got a great reception by fans, especially “Lucid Dreams,” but it was the classics that turned the night into a full-blown indie disco. “Do You Want To,” “No You Girls,” and “Ulyssses” had the floor bouncing. And when the unmistakable opening riff of “Take Me Out” hit, the entire crowd was jumping and clapping.
The night wrapped with a 4-song encore of “Darts Of Pleasure,” “Hooked,” “The Birds,” and finally “This Fire,” where Kapranos introducing each band member. After two decades, Franz Ferdinand still knows how to put on a show that’s polished, electric, and downright fun. If this tour proves anything, it’s that they’ve still got plenty of fire left.
Franz Ferdinand will be on tour in North America until April 15 (Toronto, ON) before heading back to Europe. More info on their website.

IMBERMIND Bring Album ‘Never Ending’ to Buenos Aires on their Argentina Tour 2026
During their Argentina Tour 2026, the band IMBERMIND made their debut in the country. The tour began in Mar del Plata and continued this weekend with their own show at the HiFi room of the ArtLab cultural space in Buenos Aires.
The group presented their debut album Never Ending, which features 11 songs and blends electronic music, pop, and cinematic elements. Edu, Luis, Nico, and Álvaro opened the show with “Understand” and continued with several tracks from the album, including “Never Ending,” “Godlike Man,” “Imbernation,” and “It Feels.”
The HiFi room at ArtLab allowed the audience to stand just a few steps away from the band, making their presence felt from the very first song. The venue’s high-fidelity sound system ensured that each track could be heard with all the nuances of the record, and the crowd followed every song through to the end.
To close out their time in Argentina, IMBERMIND will perform this Saturday, March 14, on the Perry’s Stage at Lollapalooza Argentina 2026, where they will wrap up their Argentina Tour 2026.

Avenoir Brings ‘Mirage Tour’ to the Hollywood Theatre in Vancouver
Rising Canadian R&B artist Avenoir brought his Mirage Tour – Act One to Vancouver on March 12, playing an intimate show at the Hollywood Theatre. The evening opened with a set from Alberta-born singer-songwriter Jonah David, who warmed up the crowd with his 2-piece band before the headliner took the stage. David‘s performance was clearly a hit as fans asked for autograph as soon as his set ended.
Born in South Africa and raised in Edmonton, Avenoir has built serious momentum over the past year. His debut EP NOIRE earned a 2025 Juno nomination, and his music has racked up hundreds of millions of streams. The Vancouver stop was part of a short run of theatre shows meant to give fans a closer look at the fast-rising artist before a bigger year ahead.
The performance leaned into atmosphere. Avenoir kept movement minimal, often standing alone at center stage as his songs unfolded over sleek production, including great saxophone moments. His acoustics songs helped strengthen his connection with the audience. The production blended futuristic R&B with booming 808s and dramatic arrangements that gave several tracks a cinematic punch. His voice has a smoky tone that cuts through the heavy beats.
The show felt like a young artist still settling into the stage. The music is already there, and the confidence will likely follow.
