Sunny Day Real Estate at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver

On September 24, 2025, Sunny Day Real Estate closed out their North American tour at Vancouver’s Commodore Ballroom. The Seattle legends leaned into every era of their catalog, opening with the crushing “Pillars” before weaving through “One,” “Seven,” and deep cuts like “J’Nuh.”
The band’s live sound hit harder than anything they’ve put to tape. With three guitars layering melody and raw force, the room vibrated in a way recordings just can’t replicate. One of the most striking moments came during “The Blankets Were the Stairs,” when Jeremy Enigk’s carefully controlled guitar feedback bled into Dan Hoerner’s riff. It was loud and perfect, like the band itself.
For the encore, “In Circles” pushed the crowd over the edge. Hoerner asked the audience to sing along, and they responded by raising their voices (and phones). Finally, Enigk led the band into “Sometimes,” closing the night.
For a group that’s weathered breakups, reunions, and long silences, Sunny Day Real Estate’s Vancouver finale showed why they still matter. If this really was the last night of the tour, they couldn’t have picked a better city to burn it all down in.
