Eighth seed Tomas Machac defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 7-6 (6), 6-2 in the grand final of the Mexican Open to claim his first ATP title and made history as the second Czech to win the tournament and the third in the ATP 500 category.

This victory puts Machac among the top 20 of the men’s rankings for the first time and he becomes the first Czech player to achieve this since Tomas Berdych in June 2018.
Machac lost his previous final in Geneva to Casper Ruud last year and this year he won against one of the favorites.

After 2 hurricanes and a difficult year between two editions of the Mexican Open, Acapulco hosted the most prestigious tennis tournaments in Latin America.
