Travis at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver
On February 1, Scottish rock band Travis brought their Raze The Bar Tour to the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, BC.
Los Angeles singer-songwriter Akira Galaxy opened the night, and shared tracks from her debut EP What’s Inside You, and a few covers.
Travis has been a band for nearly three decades, yet their energy and camaraderie on stage remain as infectious as ever. From the moment they stepped onto the stage, the crowd at Commodore was captivated.
Opening with “Bus,” a track from their latest album, Travis set the tone for an evening filled with nostalgia and fresh surprises. The audience’s enthusiastic response proved that their new music holds just as much emotional weight as their beloved classics. The roar of recognition was deafening when the opening chords of “Driftwood” rang out, leading to a massive sing-along that filled the venue.
The setlist was a journey through their extensive career, featuring early tracks like “Good Feeling” alongside later gems like “Re-Offender” and “Selfish Jean.” Fran Healy’s voice was as strong and emotive as ever, while bassist Dougie Payne’s effortless charisma added to the performance’s charm.
The encore brought renditions of “As You Are” and “Flowers in the Window” before culminating in “Why Does It Always Rain on Me?,”complete with jubilant bouncing from both band and audience.
Travis will be on tour in North America until February 19th, with a stop in Toronto, ON on February 12. More info on the band’s website.

Calum Scott Brings His ‘Avenoir Tour’ to the Wiltern in Los Angeles
Calum Scott took the Wiltern stage in Los Angeles on April 3rd, 2026, for his Avenoir Tour.
Calum Scott is a British singer-songwriter who first gained attention on Britain’s Got Talent in 2015, where his emotional cover of “Dancing On My Own” by Robyn became a global hit. Known for his powerful vocals and deeply personal songwriting, Scott blends pop with raw, heartfelt storytelling. His music often explores themes of love, identity, and self-acceptance, earning him a dedicated global fanbase and chart success with songs like “You Are The Reason.”
The theatre filled, and by 9 o’clock everyone was ready to dance, laugh, and cry together. The sense of community was in the air as many of the fans related to the vulnerability in Scott‘s music.
He performed a variety of songs from his discography: some new songs and his hits. My favorite moment was his stripped-back set, when he sang “No Matter What,” a song about him coming to terms with who he was. Tears began to fall throughout the crowd. What a meaningful night for music in Los Angeles.

Syd Taylor at The Belasco in Los Angeles
On Tuesday, March 31st, The Belasco in Downtown LA was packed with fans from both near and far. Syd Taylor, an indie-rock artist from Michigan, supported Goldie Boutilier on her North American tour, The King of Possibilities. From February 24th to April 4th, Syd opened for Boutilier at sixteen sold-out shows.
As Syd’s bandmates stepped onto the stage, the crowd erupted with cheers and chants of “Syd, Syd, Syd!” Soon after, Syd Taylor confidently walked across the stage in her stylish outfit, smiling brightly. She kicked off her set with songs from her new album, “After the Fact,” starting with “Love of Your Life,” then “Time to Go,” and “Leave Me Out of It.”
After parting ways with Stereo Jane, a band heavily inspired by ’90s rock—formed by Syd and her twin sister Emilia, known as Mia—Syd felt a strong desire to find her own artistic and personal identity.
Inspired by bands like Fleetwood Mac and The Beatles, Syd finally broke free from external expectations—no longer told which genre to pursue, whom to share her demo with, or how to present herself on stage. As her own producer, songwriter, and guitarist, she spent three months drawing inspiration from her Los Angeles apartment and charting her own creative path. This ultimately led to her releasing her debut album “After the Fact.”
Syd once said that, during the process of making this album, she felt this was “the first time that [she had] been able to sit down and create something for [herself].” Syd had previously felt like she was prioritizing others and wanted to get as far away from that mindset as possible.
To create an album as raw and reflective as “After the Fact,” Syd needed to discover her artistic style. This led her to find confidence in this new era of her career.
